Notes: We came in the winter and did not experience the outdoor playscape. Love, love, love! No room for improvement, no detail is missing or forgotten. My other child loves imaginative play, and while most children’s museums cater well to this, there were numerous options and some new ideas like a drive through bank and vault that I have not seen at other museums. I have one super energetic child and this offered more for him than any other museum we have been to. One of my favorite features is that many of the exhibits incorporate playscapes where children can climb and maneuver to different levels. Exhibit after exhibit of immersive, hands-on learning and exploration made the 2+ hours we spent here seem like it was not nearly enough time. I live approximately 2 hours away and had never even heard of it until I found a Groupon for admission, but Groupon or not, we will absolutely be returning. This little building, a ways from the city, is such a hidden gem in the state of Michigan. We'll be back because we already bought the membership, but were sorely disappointed. A few times, I directed my child elsewhere so she wouldn't be injured by older, rough-housing kids with absent supervision. Some of the children playing, especially in the beehive area, had a total disregard for smaller children and seemed to be beyond the intended age range for the play areas. The lack of staff presence also made me question the cleanliness of such a hands-on place. While some of this can be put back on parents not supervising their children, I would say the staff also has some responsibility in that area, or at least they should! Entire areas were useless because the toys/props were missing (yet could be seen strewn about the museum). That said, not once did I see a staff person out in the play areas, only in the office area. We've been to this children's museum several times over the years and decided to become members in 2019. We did see an employee start to clean up while we were leaving but it should have been much sooner. I agree that the staff needs to be around to enforce the rules and clean up, and for parents to better supervise their children. We were there an hour after they opened, and the place was already a mess and there were no employees in sight (except in the office). Last point, I wanted to echo the comments posted in March 2019. We would have been better off going to a movie. Therefore, the bottom line is that we paid a total of $24 (not sure, why adults pay the same amount as kids) for an hour+ of entertainment.

That probably would have added another 10/20 minutes to the trip if open. However, I looked and did not see anything going on and it looked fine to me. Therefore, after just an hour, she was ready to leave. Not sure why, perhaps they were meant for younger children. They had 10 or so main exhibits but there were really only three or four she got into and the others she went through quickly. We have been to a few other places like this and she usually loves them, but this was mostly a miss. We took our seven-year-old daughter to attend while on vacation.
